National IED Data Management System (NIDMS) – Brief
Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched the National IED Data Management System (NIDMS) to strengthen India’s counter-IED (Improvised Explosive Device) capabilities and internal security framework.
🔹 What is NIDMS?
A centralised digital platform for collecting, storing, and analysing data related to IED incidents
Enables real-time sharing of information among security forces and intelligence agencies
🔹 Objectives:
Improve detection, prevention, and investigation of IED-related incidents
Strengthen counter-terrorism and counter-insurgency operations
Enhance coordination between central and state security agencies
🔹 Significance:
Helps identify patterns, networks, and methods used in IED attacks
Supports evidence-based policing and intelligence-led operations
Boosts India’s preparedness against threats from terrorism, Left-Wing Extremism, and insurgency
